Street to School
Getting children into school is only the beginning.
Street to School is an integrated education access, retention, and child wellbeing programme designed to help vulnerable and underserved children enter or return to appropriate education pathways and receive the support they need to remain engaged and progress.

The challenge
What stands in the way
Educational participation can be affected by household financial hardship, school-related costs, food insecurity, limited learning materials, learning difficulties, unstable family circumstances, and limited support for children’s learning.
Enrolment alone is not enough. A child may enter school and still struggle to attend, learn, or remain engaged.
Our response
What Street to School does
A structured pathway supporting vulnerable and underserved children to overcome barriers to school access, attendance, retention and learning.
The programme looks beyond enrolment: it is designed to help children enter or return to appropriate education pathways, and to receive the support they need to remain engaged and progress.
Who we serve
Who the programme is for
The Street to School programme is designed for vulnerable and underserved children across selected underserved communities in Nigeria. Selection is needs-based and considers education status, household vulnerability, learning need, material barriers, family support, protection, and wellbeing.

What we aim to change
The change we are working towards
These are aims, not results. Verified results will be published on our Impact page as evidence becomes available.
- Access. Vulnerable and underserved children enter or return to appropriate education pathways.
- Capability. Children receive the support they need to learn, remain engaged and progress.
- Connection. Children are connected to the education pathway and support appropriate to their needs.
We use monitoring, evaluation and learning to understand progress, identify what needs to improve and inform future programme decisions.
Street to School works with children. Safeguarding is a core responsibility across programme design and delivery, and participants are treated with dignity and respect.
We work to strengthen local ownership and build pathways for longer-term change, strengthening what works.
